Responsible for implementation of the district plan, processing resource consents and resource consent compliance.

The Plan Implementation Unit (or far more simple, the ‘Planning Unit’) are primarily focused on the implementation of the District Plan. We’re tasked with:

• Processing resource consents and private plan changes lodged with Council
• Monitoring resource consents and working with the community to aid in compliance outcomes
• Providing a duty inquiry service on planning matters
• Working with the other regulatory units in giving effect to our Compliance and Monitoring Strategy
• Coordinating subdivision and development, in partnership with the Project Delivery Unit.

Our team has a range of experience, skills and backgrounds. Most of the team have worked for other Councils and so we also have a great wealth of knowledge about other Local Government process.
