Responsible for operating and maintaining the roading network, in conjunction with Council's maintenance contractor, and ensuring works and activities that are carried out by third parties on the road comply with Council standards and conditions, so that the roading asset is protected and road safety is not compromised.

The team also manage the roading and transport asset management systems and strategic planning for the district’s transport network as well as transport planning and engineering functions within the district to ensure the overall transport network is managed in an integrated way, is safe and meets the needs of the community.

The team also co-ordinate road safety education/promotion and travel demand management programmes.
