Building Unit Administration Officer

The Council is seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Building Administration Officer to join their Building Unit Team based in Rangiora. This full-time role is responsible for providing vital administrative support to the building consenting, inspection and compliance teams.
You will be part of a small dynamic team delivering excellent customer service and working collaboratively with a diverse range of people across different areas, sharing knowledge, actively seeking solutions and finding better ways of working, while contributing to the overall success of a busy and productive team.
What you'll be doing
• Vetting and processing applications for completeness and compliance.
• Setting up new applications within internal systems.
• Issuing building consents in accordance with regulatory requirements.
• Managing documentation, including electronic filing, printing, and archiving.
• Generating and managing invoices related to applications and inspections.
• Coordinating and booking inspections, ensuring timely communication between inspectors and applicants.
What we're looking for
• Previous experience in an office administration or similar role, preferably within administration & office support in the building industry.
• Excellent computer skills with an ability to learn new systems quickly.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate records.
• Well-developed written and oral communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with a diverse range of customers, contractors and colleagues.
• Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise and multitask effectively.
• Flexibility and adaptability to handle a variety of tasks and changing priorities.
