Landscape Planner - 33 hours per week
The Waimakariri District Council are looking for a Landscape Planner to support the delivery of work for the Greenspace Unit.
• Are you an inquisitive, solution & people focused Planner or Landscape Architect?
• Are you looking for a better lifestyle in a semi-rural, close knit and rapidly growing community?
• Do you seek the challenges of working on strategic outcomes for our community and environment?
Waimakariri District is one of the fastest growing Districts in New Zealand and the third largest, by population, in the South Island. This brings with it abundant challenges across a diverse range of areas. We promise to be professional, approachable and solutions-focused when providing for our community.
The Waimakariri District Council are looking for a Greenspace Landscape Planner with the ability to work effectively across a wide range of issues and enable a customer-focused environment.
This position is within the Design and Planning Team and will support the delivery of work for the Greenspace Unit. You will be working with a friendly, sociable and motivated Greenspace Unit within a highly engaged, positive Council environment.
We currently have some exciting projects underway working alongside developers as well as completing our Greenspace Capital Programme and the successful applicant will be part of a team supporting these projects to fruition.
As an entry level position, we are looking for a motivated individual with a willingness to learn and grow within this role. This person will assist with urban design advice for our growing urban and civic spaces and providing planning guidance within processes like the Long-Term Plan, District Plan, and subdivision applications.
As part of this, the successful applicant will seek proactive solutions for community wellbeing through recreation provision in the public realm. An additional area of work within this role is providing design support for the Greenspace Team, including landscape plans, CAD drafting, and visual aids for new reserves and redevelopments.
An understanding of recreation planning, landscape and urban design principles would therefore be an advantage. Applicants will be highly motivated team players who are well organised and committed to providing excellent service and quality results. In recognition of this, a very competitive salary is offered. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated and skilled professional.
The Council offers a challenging work environment where you really make a difference. Only 20 minutes north of Christchurch, Waimakariri District offers small town and rural lifestyles with a range of outdoor recreation activities on your doorstep but with the advantages of a big city nearby. Whatever your choice of living environment it is readily available and affordable.
