As Assistant Librarian with Waimakariri Libraries, you will serve as a driving force behind our libraries' commitment to providing exceptional collections, content, experiences, and services to our hapori | community.

This role will focus on our eLibrary and digital literacy offerings, planning and delivering digital skills classes, overseeing our popular Device Advice and Book-a-Librarian services, as well as growing, promoting, and reporting on the use of our eLibrary resources. Engaging with our hapori to increase both awareness and use of our eLibrary will be an important part of the role, alongside developing innovative digital and other literacy programmes.

To be successful in this role, you are a proactive, self-motivated people person, with excellent communication and digital skills. You have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in New Zealand public libraries or a related field, preferably a recognised library qualification, teaching or tertiary qualification and highly developed time management and organisational skills.

A deep understanding and passion for the work and potential of future-focused public libraries to serve communities equitably, nurture literacy and lifelong learning, and contribute to community wellbeing is essential.
