The Council is committed to advancing our role in Emergency Management, building a high-performing and integrated Emergency Management programme, that grows community resilience and readiness, and increases the Councils response and recovery capabilities. The role of the Manager of Emergency Management is to provide strategic and operational leadership and oversight to Council's programme of integrated Emergency Management (EM) work. This includes leadership of the Emergency Management Office (EMO) and its critical work programmes and activities. Key responsibilities include:
• Developing a council wide integrated approach to the delivery of EM activities.
• Developing, delivering and monitoring an EM Strategy and associated programmes of work.
• Leadership of organisation wide projects that deliver on Council EM objectives and outcomes.
• Providing high quality and strategic EM advice to the Councils Executive Leadership Team and Elected Members.
• Leading and managing the Emergency Management Office (EMO), along with the volunteer Emergency Support Team (EST) and New Zealand Rescue Team 12 (NZRT12).
• Establishing and maintaining strategic internal and external stakeholder relationships.
• Overseeing the internal capability development, and ensuring ongoing resourcing needs are met for Council's Emergency Operations Centre (EOC).
• Leading the continuous growth of community resilience and readiness.
