About the Role
We are seeking a Drinking Water Safety and Compliance Specialist to lead the oversight of drinking water safety and regulatory compliance across the district’s 11 water supplies, serving approximately 55,000 residents.
This is a specialist role where you’ll take ownership of ensuring our drinking water systems meet the highest standards under the Water Services Act (2021) and Drinking Water Quality Assurance Rules.
You'll Be Responsible For
- Managing all compliance reporting and monitoring schedules
- Overseeing and updating Drinking Water Safety Plans
- Coordinating resource consent compliance and tracking
- Developing and managing water sampling schedules
- Leading water quality data management and system improvements
- Identifying and scoping improvements to enhance water safety
- Providing internal and external reporting, including to Council Committees
What You'll Bring
- A relevant science or engineering degree (NZQA Level 7 or equivalent)
- At least 5 years’ experience in drinking water safety and compliance
- Strong understanding of New Zealand’s drinking water legislation and public supply operations
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with high integrity and professionalism
