This could be the most interesting role at the Council – it definitely has the most variety. Our Team helps people with enquiries covering all aspects of Council. No two days are the same and your next conversation could be about water, roads, rates, dog registration, kerbside bins, cemeteries, or any of the many services the Council provides for our growing community.
If you are passionate about providing exceptional customer service and you thrive in a fast-paced environment, you could be the dedicated and enthusiastic Customer Services Officer we need to join our team to cover staff parental leave.
Based at the Kaiapoi Service Centre you will be the first point of contact for our growing community, handling enquiries in person, by email, online, phone and social media, ensuring every interaction is professional, approachable and solutions-focused.
You should be:
Customer Focused: a strong customer service background with at least 12 months experience in a front facing customer service role.
Tech-savvy: you are proficient with Microsoft Office products, can quickly learn new applications, and have experience working with multiple different applications at once.
Excellent Communicator: clear and concise communication skills, both orally and in writing.
Organised: you can manage and prioritise multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Team Player: a positive attitude and able to collaborate effectively with colleagues and the community.
Customers are at the heart of everything we do. This role is for a fixed term of 15 months (April 2026 – June 2027) and offers 40 hours per week - 8 hours per day worked on Monday to Friday.
