Our Aquatics unit operates two main facilities year round – Dudley Park Aquatic Centre in Rangiora and Kaiapoi Aquatic Centre. Our outdoor facilities – Oxford Community Aquatic Centre and Waikuku Beach Paddling Pool, operate through the summer period. As well as providing a space for recreational swimming, we offer a range of services to our customers including learn-to-swim programmes, aqua aerobics classes and athletic swim coaching.
We are looking to recruit Aquatic Team Members to deliver a range of Learn to Swim programmes to our customers, with shifts available during the day in our schools programme as well as in the afternoons and on weekends.
As a Learn to Swim Instructor in our Aquatics team, you will take responsibility for:
• Delivering engaging lessons in group and/or individual settings
• Assessing and recording swim evaluations for participants of the Learn to Swim programme
• Following lesson plans designed to meet the needs of students at a range of levels and abilities
To succeed in this position, you will be:
• Customer focused and enjoy engaging with members of the public
• Self motivated and highly organised, with the ability to work semi autonomously
• A collaborative team player, with a positive, flexible attitude
• NCEA Level 2 qualified (or working towards)
• Available to work during school hours and/or weekday afternoons
• Previous experience in an Aquatics environment would be advantageous, but is not essential as full training will be provided
