About the Role
The Waimakariri District Council has an exciting new opportunity for an experienced Asset Information Officer – GIS to join our Asset Information Management Team in the Finance Unit.
In this role, you will be responsible for administering and maintaining Councils asset information across Asset Management Systems and the Geographic Information System (GIS). You will manage data entry, validation, verification and retrieval for all Three Waters, Roading, and Greenspace assets, ensuring information is accurate, consistent and readily available to support long term planning and operational decision making. The role also involves working closely with staff to resolve data quality issues, capture new asset information and provide reliable mapping and analysis when required.
Key responsibilities for this role include:
Input, update, and validate newly acquired asset data, including financial details, into asset management systems (Adapt\TechnologyOne, RAMM), and ArcGIS Pro. Including assets Vested to Council through new developments, as well as, through capital projects and reactive maintenance work.
Create, maintain, and analyse geospatial data. Produce maps for internal staff and work on special projects related to asset data geometry as need be.
Data quality assurance tasks to identify and resolve data inconsistencies, collaborating closely with other Council staff to ensure accurate data capture.
About You
You will have strong understanding of asset information management and GIS principles, supported by a relevant tertiary qualification with 3 years’ experience or at least 5 years in a similar role. You will bring experience working with asset databases, construction as-builts, ArcGIS, RAMM, Excel, SQL and field data capture tools, ideally within a council or similar asset focused environment. Your ability to analyse information, identify data gaps and work collaboratively with other Council teams will be essential to your success in the role.
You have the confidence to provide guidance and technical support to others, including training staff in the use of asset management systems. You take pride in producing accurate information, have great attention to detail, and enjoy working in a role where you are contributing directly to the effective management of important community infrastructure.
A current New Zealand driver licence is required.
