Communications Advisor

The Waimakariri District is one of the fastest-growing districts in New Zealand and the fourth largest by population in the South Island. With a population of over 70,000 we are experiencing rapid growth with a high rate of development accompanied by corresponding demands on support functions.
The Council is seeking a Communications Advisor for 30 hours per week to provide high-quality, trusted communications support enabling clear, consistent and effective engagement with residents, stakeholders and the wider community.
The successful applicant will be responsible for the drafting of speeches, columns, correspondence, award citations and event-related communications, among other tasks, ensuring content reflects the Mayors voice and Council priorities.
You will be an excellent writer with the ability to think creatively about the channels and messages used to reach your audience.
This role provides advice and practical support across social media, document review, community recognition and public events, exercising sound judgement, discretion and attention to detail.
To be successful in this position, you will be able to demonstrate experience in a similar role.
This role will suit a strong team player who enjoys interacting with a wide range of stakeholders and going the extra mile but also thrives on accuracy and efficiency of information and processes.
We are looking for someone who takes ownership and has exceptional customer service skills with a "can do" attitude. Being able to prioritise workloads and deal with multiple tasks in high-pressure situations is essential.
