Trustee for the Te Kohaka o Tuhaitara Trust
The Council is seeking expressions of interest to serve as a Council-appointed trustee of this Trust.
Te Kōhaka o Tūhaitara Trust was settled by the Waimakariri District Council and Te Runanga o Ngāi Tahu for the purpose of administering the Tūhaitara Coastal Reserve and the Tūtaepatu Lagoon in North Canterbury. The land administered by the Trust extends north from the Waimakariri River to Waikuku Beach.
The Trust can have up to six trustees, three of whom are appointed by the Waimakariri District Council and three of whom are appointed by Te Runanga o Ngāi Tahu. The trustees meet monthly. The Trust has developed and is currently implementing the Reserve Management Plan for the area, which includes a long-term vision to restore the area to its natural state.
The Council is seeking expressions of interest from individuals with the necessary skills and experience to serve as a Council-appointed trustee of this Trust. The appointment would be for a three-year term starting on 1 September 2026 and ending on 30 August 2029. You will be someone who has a strong interest in the protection, restoration, and promotion of natural habitats and who is interested in making a difference in their community. Previous experience as a trustee and/or director and in accessing and managing resources is also highly desirable.
