Waimakariri District Council is seeking Casual Customer Services Officers to join our Customer Services Team. Often described as one of the most interesting teams in Council, no two days are the same. You’ll help residents and visitors with enquiries covering all aspects of Council services, from rates and rubbish collection to parks, roads, dogs and more.
About the Role
As a Customer Services Officer – Casual, you’ll be the friendly face and voice of Council, assisting residents and visitors in person, by phone, email, and online and through social media. The role is primarily based at our Rangiora and Kaiapoi service centres, with occasional shifts at our Oxford service centre.
This is a genuine casual position with no guaranteed minimum hours. Many shifts are planned in advance to cover annual leave and busy periods, particularly during school holiday periods. There may also be opportunities for short-notice shifts to cover staff absences and unexpected workload demands.
About You
You will be a customer-focused and adaptable team player who enjoys working with people and providing exceptional service. You’ll be a confident communicator who can build positive relationships and respond professionally to a wide range of enquiries.
To be successful in this role, you'll bring:
Experience in customer service, contact centre, reception, administration or other customer focused roles
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
Confidence using Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new systems and processes
A flexible and reliable approach, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities
Sound judgement, attention to details and a positive, solution-focused mindset
A commitment to working collaboratively and contributing to a supportive team environment

To be successful in this role, applicants will need to be available to work during school holiday periods and have flexibility to accept shifts when required.
