Emergency Management Advisor - Readiness

If you enjoy new challenges and pride yourself in delivering solutions in complex and shifting situations, the Waimakariri District Council has an exciting new opportunity for an experienced Emergency Management Advisor to work within the Emergency Management Office, based in Rangiora.
This exciting fixed-term (18 months), full-time role will be an important member of the Civil Defence Emergency Management (CDEM) team responsible for delivery of comprehensive emergency management across the Waimakariri District.
Some key requirements of this position are to manage CDEM volunteers, review operational guidance, and build Council staff capability to deliver effective CDEM functions. In addition, the Emergency Management Advisor will need to:
• Have strategic development experience and proven experience in operationalizing strategies.
• Have education or training experience.
• Help lead our responses to civil defence emergencies.
• Support the CDEM duty officer role.
• Advise Council staff on CDEM matters.
• Support our community’s resilience to disasters.
The successful candidate must hold a current New Zealand Drivers Licence and be able to work outside normal work hours to support real emergencies, simulated disaster exercises, public meetings, and training of CDEM volunteers.
